The Great Montana Adventure

Every year, hubby and I take a little road trip adventure (aka mini vacation) just with the two of us. I say "every year" since we've done this trip each Fall since we've been married - which technically is twice, but we're newlyweds, so we're starting our traditions early. Last year we took an amazing camping trip to Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons, most of the photos which are featured in our Best of 2009 Photo Gallery album.

This year, since hubby hasn't been back to his homestead in Billings, MT for three years, we decided it was worth a trip down memory lane to see what's changed in the town, and most importantly to road trip and hike through the Beartooth Mountains - a family favorite, which hubby constantly refers to as "my mountains."  As you can see, the scenery is beautiful.

In addition to all of God's beauty that we were able to take in around Montana and Wyoming, we also made sure to capture the simple pleasures of visiting Montana - our favorite restaurants. From MacKenzie River Pizza for their sourdough pizza crust, to breakfast at Hardees for their Cinnamon Raisin Biscuits, we didn't miss any of our favorite spots and even visited a few places twice (including Softie's, which introduced me to the largest ice cream cone I'd ever eaten). 

By far my favorite eatery was Bogart's Pizza in Red Lodge, MT. I'm not sure if it's the ambiance or the whole wheat crust on their pizza, but I could eat at that place every day and not get sick of it.

P.S. For those of road trippers that play the license plate game - we saw 42 out of 50 states during our trip. Not bad for 3 days on the road!
