Life is Changing

It’s been two years since we said “I Do” on a beach down in the sun

And never would have imagined that marrying our best friend could be so fun

We’ve hiked around our new home town, as well as many national parks

Our adventures have lead us near and far to fun places we embark

               

But now our life is changing…. Getting better…. even daring

For added to our sweet new life - a boy for whom we’ll be caring

Yes, come end of January, life will truly change our independent souls

As we’ll welcome to this world a baby boy who will change our roles

Instead of staying out so late for parties or for shopping

We’ll be at home taking care of diapers that are poopy or just sopping

And though our world will turn upside down from such a little baby boy

We’ll never be able to express to him how he brings us such great joy

Already we are seeing his personality through each movement

As he actively twists and turns inside making mommy’s stomach indent

He loves his food, which we definitely know is his parent’s attribute

Because after every meal we eat, he can’t help but move and be cute

Though we can say we barely know him. Though he’s truly still unknown

We know that God has placed him in our life to be our own

Fearfully and wonderfully made, he is, as the Psalmist once did say

And we pray each day that he’ll follow our Lord and Savior every day

We pray also for our parenting - may we pass the test we’re sent

As we adjust to setting structured rules and loving through each moment

We know life’s going to change a bit, and sometimes make us unsure

But we thank God he’s given us this chance to take on this adventure
