Belated Birthday Post

It's technically been a few weeks since our little man became an official 1-year-old, but after this busy mom and dad finally got all the photos uploaded from the camera to the computer, I realized we're a little behind in posting. So jump back in time with me as we remember our fun, little celebration(s) - we celebrated two times.

CB's actual birthday landed in the middle of the week, so Hubby and I took him out to Chuck E. Cheese for his birthday supper. Now we realize that a 1-year-old will not remember his 1st birthday. We also realize that he may not appreciate all of the fun and games when going to a place specifically for him. But Hubby and I wanted to take this birthday boy out on the town and knew he'd get a kick out of all the lights, noises and music that a kid-centric place could offer. So we introduced him to one of the restaurants from both our childhood.

We sat real close to the Chuck E. Cheese band, so we could be entertained during dinner.
We ate a good amount of pizza. Don't worry, we cut up his pizza for him, but Hubby couldn't resist trying to feed CB a full piece.
CB road in arcade cars and took in all the lights and noises.
CB even enjoyed helping mom and dad play a little Skeeball. Dad got him LOTS of tickets.

In addition to the fun night out with our little man, we celebrated with cake during our Sunday night bible study group.
Everyone got cupcakes, but CB's was the biggest.
Unfortunately, someone was having food texture issues that week and wasn't a big fan of the frosting or cupcake. In fact, he didn't even want to try it.
He even took time to tell us his feelings about the whole situation.

Funny enough, Hubby gave CB the bottom of a cupcake (no frosting) the next day and he totally ate it. Guess we should have 'test drove' the cupcake experience for our little man ahead of time. Who knew that would be his first reaction to cake?

Regardless of how much cupcake he ate, we are so happy to have CB in our lives and still can't believe it's been a year since he joined our family. Our little man has grown from a 5 lb 13 oz little peanut, into what he is today:

  • 19 lb (and 1 oz), 30.5 inches tall little boy who loves to walk along furniture
  • Little jumper, who gets air when standing at the gate at the top of the stairs when mommy gets home from work
  • Gives the best high-fives and gets a kick out of people waving at him (he waves back about 1/2 the time, if he's not too distracted)
  • Reads books constantly - either to himself or sometimes outloud
  • Has a great sense of humor - laughs at slap-stick comedy (running into things) and Hubby's funny faces
  • Plays in his tupperware cupboard while we're making or cleaning up meals
  • Loves watching video of himself (and giggles every time)
  • And is currently infatuated with the microwave timer

Happy birthday, CB! We love you!
