As I mentioned in an earlier post, Peanut is 1 month old (and has been for two weeks), but with the chaos of our house right now I'm finally getting time to post about it.
Her first month has been a whirlwind, but that's mainly because we're going on little sleep in this house. Peanut sleeps great for her naps during the day. She loves her car seat and loves to be rocked. I guess CB did too - so that's not that strange for us. What's different is that when CB was a newborn he would have a two-hour crabby time in the early evening (between 7-9pm) and our little Peanut saves her crabby time for 11pm-1am every night. With one kid it wouldn't be a big deal - typical newborn stuff. What's been difficult is that our little man wakes up around 6:30 every morning. Yuck!
Thankfully Peanut has been sleeping 5-6 hours through the night recently to give us a chunk of sleep each night. So that means 5 hours of solid sleep a night. Not horrible, but with no parent naps during the day because of the two kids, we're still trying to catch up on sleep.
Other milestones and things I need to remember about Peanut so I'm writing them on our blog:
- Peanut eats like a champ. Whether nursing or on the bottle, she eats every 2.5-3 hours (4 oz at a time), except the longer breaks at night.
- She has been lifting her head from day one, holding her head up while on her tummy since 2 weeks old and rolls over from her tummy to her back. Wow!
- We haven't had an official weight check recently, but at her two week doctor appointment, Peanut weighed 6 lb 9 oz and was 20 inches long. That's a pound more from when she left the hospital.
- She's still in newborn diapers (Pampers) and newborn-sized clothes and her brother loves to "help" change her diaper. This consists of him standing on a step stool next to the changing table to watch the process and point out her belly button.
- She smiled for the first time (technically at 6 weeks old) while flirting with daddy.
- She loves watching her brother run around the house. Though her eyesight is still short-sighted, her eyes follow CB when he's close to her.
