Fireworks, Fun and Falling Asleep

For those of you that know Hubby well, you know that he LOVES fireworks. And that's an understatement. I'm mean, really...what's better than celebrating our freedom with fire and things that blow up? At least, that's Hubby's point of view.

We have fond memories of our annual fireworks show that Hubby would put on for our friends in the Midwest. It would take a full truck to haul all of the fireworks down to the launch station (at a friend's farm), and then took 3 hours to shoot off every last firework. Those were the days....

Now we have moved to a place where the fireworks laws are a little more limited. And well, let's be honest, our budget is also a little more limited with being on one income and having a family to support. But that doesn't mean we still can't have fun on the 4th of July, does it? Not in Hubby's opinion.

This year, the state passed some new laws that now allow us city-folk to purchase and shoot off aerial fireworks (aka: the fun one's that go up in the air). When we heard this news, Hubby's face lit up like it was Christmas. So of course, we had to set aside a small budget to make a few memories on CB's first 4th of July. And memories we did make.

The Grand Finale

Not only did we get some fun aerial fireworks to shoot off, but CB played outside (for all the pics from CB's July 4th weekend fun, see the Photo Album) and stayed up past his bed time to watch his daddy's fireworks show. With noise cancelling headphones on, he took in the excitement and was introduced to one of his daddy's passions. From the look on his face, I realized "like father, like son."

But unlike his father, all the excitement really took a toll on our little guy and since he couldn't hear much, ended up falling asleep right after the grand finale. At least he was awake in order to experience his first (of many) fireworks show.
