We went to the hospital this week to have the 20-week ultrasound of our littlest peanut. As part of the 45-minute, in-depth study of mom and baby, we saw pictures of every little, precious body part - the heart, the hands, the mouth (with tongue moving in and out) and the cutest little pair of feet tucked in a corner.
The best part of the visit was when the three of us - CB, Hubby and I - learned that we were adding a little (drum roll please...) girl to our family. That's right! We're having a girl.
Since the beginning, we've been guessing what gender baby #2 would be. I was guessing girl, only because both Hubby and I grew up in families with one older brother and one younger sister. And Hubby's been saying it's a boy - mainly to balance out our guesses and to make a good excuse for us to wager on it (deep down he thought it was a girl too).
So we bet on what the gender would be - and I won. Which means we'll be going to a Thai restaurant for date night soon. Yay!!
Anyway, reality is hitting us that we're in for a whole new type of adventure with adding a little girl to our family. With how much of a tomboy I was growing up, I'm sure this little girl will have no problem keeping up with her older brother - playing sports, digging in mud and loving her G.I. Joe action figures as much as her Barbies.
I love the fact that Baby Girl (BG) and CB will be close enough in age to be best buds. Though the timing wasn't exactly what we planned (they'll be 16 1/2 months apart), I'm super excited to see these two grow up together and learn about life from each other. I know I appreciate my big brother (and followed him around everywhere as we were growing up) and that Hubby adores his little sister. We're just praying our two little ones will experience the same type of joy that we have.
