So family time in the Midwest was great... but that was just the beginning of our trip. After a few days hanging with the fam, it was time for Hubby to actually golf. Recently some of our friends had moved near choice golf courses, so we not only got to stay in their new house, but we were able to spend extra time with them than in year's past. Bonus!
This was their first time meeting our little man, so it was fun for CB to make new friends, and for us to get reacquainted with our old friends. I sometimes forget how easy it is to pick up where you left off with your life-long friends. Oh, how I love friendships like that!
The boys spent one and a half days playing three golf courses and were visibly tired by the end of the excursion. Oh, how I love the stories they tell when they return from their golfing adventures. Stories in year's past included a golf cart accident. This year was a little more telling of their age.
When they started this tradition in college, their young bodies could handle the rigorous work that it took to play 54 holes within a 28 hour period. Now, twelve years later, they are a little bit older, a little bit stiffer and by part way through game 2 had agreed to play "best ball." Regardless of who won (which no one does playing "best ball"), the views of their time together were beautiful and green - something we don't see very much of in the West.
While the boys were out golfing, us girls were out shopping, watching movies and catching up. The time together is never enough, but was just what my little heart needed - some special time with one of my dearest girlfriends. And CB went along for the ride. Thankfully, he doesn't mind us girls chatting away and was a perfect gentleman as we went out for a girl's only dinner on an outdoor patio.
