CB + Hubby + Me = 3

We're now officially a family of 3. Our little CB was born at 7:39 a.m. on Monday, January 24 (his due date), weighing in at 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

He's a small little peanut, but healthy as can be. Here's his story:

On Sunday night (January 23), I started having some small contractions while our bible study was over at our house in the evening. As the pain regularly increased in frequency, I knew that it wouldn't be long until we were headed to the hospital. But true to my personality, I didn't want to kick anyone out, since I knew I would be able to at least make it through our time together with friends. After everyone left our house, my contractions were around 3-5 minutes apart, so Hubby and I packed our things in the car and headed to the hospital around 9 pm.

Because I was barely dilated when I arrived, I don't think they would have kept me around. But my blood pressure was registering off the charts. They hooked me up to monitors, made me lay on my side and kept a close eye on me. Unfortunately, trying to naturally handle contraction pain isn't easy when laying on your side - I wasn't able to walk around or sit up, which started to wear on this girl after about 5 hours. By the middle of the night, I knew that going natural would make it difficult for me continue, so I asked for an epidural, which they gave me at 5 am.

Within a couple of hours I was pressing my call button to tell the nurse I was ready to push. Timing was ironic, because the nurse shift change was at 7:30 am - right as I was pressing my call button, so I was being introduced to new nurses and my doctor came into the room just in time for the action to begin.

CB joined us at 7:39 am - with two parents that fell in love immediately.

Hubby was a fantastic support through the whole process. Since I was in labor at the hospital through the middle of the night for 10 hours, we were both exhausted. But Hubby held my hand, talked me through contractions and only nearly fainted once (during my epidural).
