The Naming Game

We're not sharing what we plan to name our little man - at least not until his debut into this world. We made this decision way before we were even pregnant and have stuck to it.

But even though they know our discussion not to share - every time I get on the phone with my family, I get asked what we're naming our baby. It's almost become a little game:

The family asks "Now, what's his name again?"

And I give some absurd name that we'd never actually call our kid - Plaxico, Edgerrin and D'Brickashaw have been some of the fun football-inspired names we've thrown out there.

But now I've moved onto others, which unfortunately have become the fill-in name when talking about the baby - Leif (because who doesn't want to name their kid after a great explorer) and Maynard.

So now the family asks, "How's our little Maynard doing?" - it's been hilarious, but hopefully won't stick after our little Maynard, I mean, man gets here.

What's funny is we actually don't have a name yet. Not to say we're not close. In fact, we've had it narrowed down to two names for the majority of my pregnancy. But we still can't decide.

Every time we think we're close, the next day we both change our minds. Thankfully, our minds are always thinking similarly - so I don't think we'll have to play a rousing game of rock-paper-scissors in the labor and delivery room. But still, it's getting pretty ridiculous that we can't make a final decision.

So now we're down to the wire. With days left before he arrives, will it be _______ _______ or _______ _______? Only we know....

[Note: No offense to anyone who has, or plans to, name their child the names listed in this post - they just aren't our style.]
